New Invention Medical Super Glue To Attach Wound

Medical Super Glue

If all this time, we know the super glue can only paste wood or plastic. Recently, reported by The Telegraph, the scientist from famous university in the world Harvard has managed to develop medical super glue. This medical super glue can attach wound and able to glue back human organs.

New Invention Medical Super Glue

This innovation actually comes from a fairly simple thought. If the glue is usually able to glue under completely dry surface conditions, the research team is working to make a glue that can be sticky in wet conditions. This glue is expected to be applied to a fluid filled human body such as sweat, blood, or other glandular fluids.

This is an important breakthrough in the medical world. The method of covering the wound is only limited to stitches or tools such as staples which are still time-consuming. Now, with this medical super glue, the time can be cut significantly. So, more lives can be saved.

The Use Of New Super Glue

This glue can actually paste objects even in wet conditions like our bodies when the wound continues to bleed. With this glue, the wound on the body can even be taped back. Many people think gluing the body will damage the tissues on the body. It is different from this glue that will not poison the body.

super glue uses

Imagine if we use this glue to cover the wound on our body, it will reduce the risk of death from bleeding. This super strong glue technology also was tested into the leaking pig's heart. The glue is pulled up thousands of times and the result, glue stick strong and close the hole in the heart.

In addition, the researchers also tested it on pig skin, cartilage, arteries, liver tissue, and heart. The heart that is swollen by water or air and covered with blood can be re-sealed due to this glue. Besides using pig component, this glue has also been tested on live mice.

The way to use it is by doing an emergency simulation and tears the mouse's liver tissue. After applied this super strong glue, for two weeks even the mouse did not experience additional bleeding and with no side effect.

Super Glue Materials

Arion subfuscus is a snail species that inspires researchers to find this glue. The mucus that is released by this yellow snail can be sticky and always stick even on a wet surface though. From here, the researchers try to dig out the characteristics of slime mucus subfuscus arion and try to make a copy of it by using the same adhesive method.

The crosslink technology makes this glue able to glue very strongly and has the characteristics of bending like rubber. So, when pulled the glue will be elastic but still glue and will return to its original form. The cross-link is a combination of two bonds, the covalent bond that holds the molecules together while sharing the electrons.

Then the ionic bonds that make molecules deliver electrons to other molecules. This progress is indeed extraordinary and can be very helpful in the medical field. But to apply it to the treatment of wounds in humans, this super glue is still undergoing a further research stage in order to really be safe for humans.

Conclusion

Recently, the scientist from Harvard University as managed to develop medical super glue. It can attach wound and able to glue back organs. After being applied in pig and mice organs, this glue is a success. However, this super glue is still undergoing a further research stage in order to really be safe for humans.
