Nikola Tesla Inventions the Alternating Current
Nikola Tesla was considered as the most powerful electric scientist who ever existed though he was not so well known in the 19th to 20th centuries. One of the inventions of Nikola Tesla was the Alternating Current. Most people are more familiar with Thomas Alfa Edison who was the inventor of direct current while Nikola was the inventor of alternating electric. AC (Alternating Current) is an electric current that the quantity can vary in the process back and forth.

Nikola Tesla was born in 1856. He was the fourth child of five siblings and since childhood, he had liked the counts lesson such as physics, mechanics, and mathematics. He then continued his study at the Graz University of Technology in Austria. From here, he learned about the science of electricity and tried to make alternating electric current that could be applied to direct current electric motors in order to be more efficient.
The inventor of this alternating current finally moved to New York with only 4 cents and a suitcase which contained a book about engineering and some poetry. At first, Nikola Tesla moved to New York just to work with Thomas Alfa Edison. At Thomas's company, there were at least 24 designs of the dynamo types. Unfortunately, as long as Nikola worked with Thomas, they always never matched. Finally, he decided to work with George Westinghouse, a scientist who managed to build the first hydroelectric tool by utilizing Niagara Falls.
In 1887, Nikola Tesla had already started his own laboratory. He managed to prove to the world that the alternating current was better than the direct current created by Thomas Alfa Edison. He had won a current war between Thomas Alfa Edison and George Westinghouse to determine whether AC and DC currents could be used for electrical transmission. The Alternating electric current is usually used as power supply from State Electricity Company to every home but can also be applied to radio signals which are very useful for daily life.
Nikola Tesla had a nickname as a mad scientist who successfully to patent about 300 inventions in just less than 1 year. Followed 20 years later, Nikola also created another great discovery in the field of electricity and radio.
