In this modern era, of course, many people are familiar with WI-FI but just a few people who know the Wi-Fi inventor. Hedy Lamarr is the inventor of Wi-Fi. Hedy not only had a beautiful face but also had a brilliant brain so she patented a product which known as Wi-Fi. Now, technology is no longer a luxury item because we can find it in various places. Wi-Fi which is short for Wireless Fidelity is a wireless computer network that widely used to facilitate the people activities. Wi-Fi Discovery by Hedy Lamarr
Hedy was born on November 9, 1914, in Vienna Austria. She was better known as a top and famous Hollywood actress who played in a movie called Ecstasy. She was also considered to have a genius brain and talented in mathematics field. It was proven in 1942. Hedy Lamarr successfully patented a product called a secret communication system using radio frequency in data exchange. This product was considered to be a strong and important foundation in communication technology.
Hedy Lamarr who in the Second World War was the wife of Fritz Mandl was constantly observing the remote-controlled torpedo system work. Unfortunately, this technology was not up to the stage of production because at that time still very susceptible to jamming from the enemy. There was only one way to take advantage of its weakness point by stabilizing the synchronization between the signal from the receiver and the sender.
In 1940, Hedy Lamarr met a music composer named George Antheil then she invited George to help her create a tool that could help synchronization. Then George made a system based on frequency 88. This frequency was created based on the number of keys on the piano. In order to avoid the jamming, then did the rolling paper which could help the synchronization between each other.

Finally, after 2 years after the discovery, Hedy Lamarr got her patent as the inventor of Wi-Fi. At first, the name of the concept of the invention was called Frequency Hopping but changed to Spread Spectrum with the same basic idea. In 1997, Hedy Lamarr received an award from the Electronic Frontier Foundation and 3 years later on January 19, 2000, she died. Until now, Wi-Fi technology continues to be developed. Almost all gadgets such as smartphones, game consoles, and audio or video players are equipped with Wi-Fi features as a tool to connect to the internet.
